The 69th edition of Mifed, scheduled to take place at Fiera Milano from 3 to 7 November will showcase 459 films, 263 of which premieres. Alongside films like Todd Haynes’s Far From Heaven and Patrice Leconte’s L’homme du train, seen and very well received at international festivals, Mifed will host the world premieres of Alan Parker’s The Story of David Gale, starring Kate Winslet and Kevin Spacey, Stephen Daldry’s The Hours with the exceptional cast of Julianne Moore, Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep. The market’s programme also includes surprises like Together, the latest offering from Chen Kaige and French director Danièle Thompson’s Jet Lag with Jean Reno and Juliette Binoche.
The 69th Mifed will be “special” said Manlio Armellini, COO of Rassegne, the company that for the second consecutive year has organised the Milanese market “because the number of participants shows a steady increase and the quality of the products being presented is improving.”
253 companies from 26 countries will gather in Mifed, lead, as usual by 93 from America, 30 from host country Italy, 20 respectively from the UK and France, 9 from Germany and 6 from Spain. Alongside the strong European and American contingents, there will be a growing number of Asian companies, 28 from Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan.
The novelties of Mifed 69 include the Saturday Pre-Screenings, scheduled to take place on the eve of the opening, and featuring some of the world’s leading international distributors and producers like Miramax International, the Minerva Group, Promark and Intermedia. Business often benefits from a relaxed setting, and so Mifed, in collaboration with the Terme di Saturnia Spa, has set up its very own Wellness Area where stressed-out execs can grab some well-needed R.&R.
