Park Circus strikes Sony Repertory deal

British distributor Park Circus Films has signed an agreement with Sony Pictures Repertory to theatrically distribute worldwide (excluding North America) its extensive library of classic and award-winning feature films.

The Sony Pictures film library is a 3500-title catalogue that includes films from Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems, Sony Pictures Animation and Tristar collections. Highlights from the repertory catalogue include David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia, Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and several films by Frank Capra. The library covers all genres from 1924 to the present day. In all, the library has 11 Academy Award-winning Best Pictures.

Park Circus Managing Director Nick Varley said, “The Sony Pictures library is one of the greatest classic film collections in the world, and the studio is rightly renowned for the quality of the restoration of its heritage. We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to represent the Sony film collections, and look forward to working with our exhibition and festival colleagues globally to get many of these films back on cinema screens around the world.”

Park Circus already has similar agreements with Arrow Films, Film4, Icon Entertainment International, MGM/United Artists, ITV Global Entertainment, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, UK and a number of other independent producers.
