Belgian director Joachim Lafosse, faced the most challenging shoot of his career when he decided to make The White Knights (2015), a humanitarian drama with big French stars shot entirely in Morocco. 50 Days in the Desert explores his challenges and unusual working methods over the course of a gruelling seven week shoot in the Sahara, offering an intimate, week-by‐week exploration of the always evolving — and occasionally backfiring — creative process of a film director at work on set. A film that offers the possibility to be as close as possible to the painful but also insightful and exciting birth of a large-scale feature without having to camp out in the Sahara for weeks.
