Film Europe recently developed its unique, multi-level Be2Can platform into a distribution label, Be2Can Distribution (read the interview). “After four years, the time is ripe to take another step forward and develop the Be2Can concept so that it can function throughout the year,” says CEO Ivan Hronec, revealing that viewers can see “Be2Can films when they are premiered at Film Europe’s own eponymous showcase, and then during the year in cinemas, on television and on VoD – and subsequently also on DVD”.

Film Europe’s very own premium Festival Cinema Channel (read the news), which also hosts Be2Can titles, is now expanding into new territories. As of 20 June, the broadcasting schedule will be available in the Netherlands and Belgium, while the linear programme will be complemented by an SVoD service in the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Film Europe Channel thus becomes the first television channel founded in Eastern Europe that has crossed over to territories in Western Europe.

“We have succeeded in identifying high-quality European films before they have been awarded the Palme d’Or at Cannes. We have succeeded in presenting high-quality films within our own festivals, in cinemas, on DVD and VoD platforms, as well as quality TV. We have succeeded in transforming Europe’s cinema heritage into an artistically valuable and commercially independent concept. And we have succeeded in doing so even without receiving a contribution from public sources. Film Europe is also an unparalleled start-up within the context of European film, owing to its independent economic model. High-quality films are no longer the monopoly of state-supported festivals and television channels,” the CEO states. The Festival Cinema Channel is also the company’s reaction to the current phenomenon of quality TV and the televisual platform for its portfolio of 800 films originating in Europe.

Film Europe Channel’s partner for Benelux countries is the M7 Group, with its distribution platforms Canal Digitaal and TV Vlaanderen, while Skylink remains the partner for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, offering its subscribers Film Europe titles within the Skylink Live TV SVoD internet service.
