In the Corso Salani competition for new Italian feature films, the prize, worth €2,000 and decided on by the jury comprising Maria Bonsanti, Francesco Giai Via and Cinzia Masotina, went to The Man with the Lantern [+lee también:

ficha de la película]. Both films had their world premieres at Trieste.

The honorary Eastern Star Award was bestowed upon legendary Yugoslav actor Rade Šerbedžija, and the founders of the Cineteca del Friuli, Livio Jacob and Piera Patat, got the Cinema Warrior Award. Romanian producer Ada Solomon received the Central European Initiative Award, worth €3,000. 

The first festival of the year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 1968, Trieste presented the audience with a two-strand historical programme: “Rebels 68. East”, selected by Ivan Velisavljević, featured seven films from Eastern Europe, ranging from Jan Nemec's Oratori for Prague and Dušan Makavejev's Sweet Movie to Nenad Puhovski's Generation '68 [+lee también:

ficha de la película], while “Rebels 68. West”, curated by Mariuccia Ciotta and Roberto Silvestri, included nine titles, from Marco Bellochio's Fists in the Pocket, through Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers [+lee también:
