will have its world premiere in just a few days’ time at Cannes Film Festival, where it is in the running for the Palme d’Or. Selling the rights to the film (which is inspired by true crime events) is Rai Com, the sole distributor of Rai productions. “Dogman is an extraordinarily strong film,” said Paolo Del Brocco, CEO of Rai Cinema, which produced the film, along with the director’s company, Archimede, and the French outfit Le Pacte – which is due to distribute the film from 11 July onwards (the film will be released in Italy by 01 on 17 May – during Cannes festival). “Matteo Garrone’s films never fail to surprise, including those of us who are very much familiar with and fond of his cinema. His visual and narrative talent goes from strength to strength and continues to gain traction over the years.” With just the film’s promo reel to go on, Rai Com has already nailed down agreements at Berlin’s European Film Market with Alamode (for Germany and Austria), M2 (Poland), Karma Films (Spain), Midas Filmes (Portugal), Feelgood Entertainment (Greece), A-One (Russia) and Mcf Megacom Film (Croatia and Albania). Dogman has also been sold in China (Time-in-Portrait Entertainment), Benelux (Cinéart), Estonia and Latvia (A-One Films).

. The former – a vibrant musical directed by the Manetti Bros – scooped up numerous David di Donatello awards at the end of March, after receiving the double Pasinetti award – for surprise film and for the entire cast – at Venice Film Festival in 2017, where it was entered in competition. Love and Bullets took more than €1,500,000 at the Italian box office and has been sold to China (Time in Portrait), Japan (Only Hearts) and Portugal (Midas Filmes).
