Award-festooned Mexican production designer Eugenio Caballero, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Production Design on Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma, will be present at the upcoming Visegrad Film Forum to give an eagerly awaited lecture. As a prominent international educational and networking platform, the eighth edition of the Visegrad Film Forum will continue to welcome myriad inspirational film professionals involved in many different lines of work. The upcoming edition has lined up a cavalcade of celebrated professionals, and Caballero, who has worked on projects as diverse as Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth [+lee también:

 (which won him an Academy Award for Best Production Design in 2007) and Resident Evil: Extinction, will give a lecture on the topic of “Shaping the Scene”.

Caballero will appear alongside a long-time Christopher Nolan collaborator, film supervisor Mark W Weingartner. Besides Nolan’s projects Dunkirk [+lee también:

trilogy, Weingartner also worked on the box-office blockbusters The Hunger Games and the Twilight saga, and has a credit on The MatrixI Am Legend and X-Men: The Last Stand. In addition to revealing some of the magic behind visual effects, he will hold a special three-day VFX workshop at the Visegrad Film Forum. Award-winning Greek cinematographer Phedon Papamichael, who put his talents to good use in DownsizingNebraskaThe Descendants and Walk the Line, will discuss “How to Tell a Story”. Meanwhile, New York-based documentary director-producer-cinematographer Kirsten Johnson will talk about “The Power of the Camera”, with which she has considerable experience, having served as principal cinematographer on Citizenfour [+lee también:

Sergei Loznitsa, will also rock up in Bratislava to make a speech entitled “A Study of the People Around Us”.

The Visegrad Film Forum serves as a platform to connect budding film professionals from the Visegrad region and beyond, and will, as is customary, screen student works from partner schools. The eighth edition will welcome emerging talents from the Tomas Bata University in Zlín, the Czech Republic; Polish delegates from WRiTV, Katowice; Hungarian students from SZFE, Budapest; and, representing domestic turf, the Film and TV Faculty of VŠMU, the event’s co-organiser. Peers and colleagues from outside the Visegrad region will be welcome to join in as well – most notably, those from the Kyiv National IK Kaprenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University; the Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School in Tallinn; and the National University of Theatre and Film IL Caragiale in Bucharest.
