On 3 April, the 9th edition of Rendez-Vous, New French Cinema Festival will open with Invisibles [+lee también:

by Louis-Julien Petit (a box-office champion in France with takings of over 10 million euros). The event organised by the Institut français - Italy, alongside UniFrance, will run until 8 April, bringing the best of recent French cinema to Rome. But that’s not all: after its time in the capital, the festival will journey on, with its focus and featured artists in tow, visiting Bologna, Florence, Milan, Naples, Palermo and Turin.

The guest of honour at this year’s edition will be Jacques Audiard. The multi-award-winning French director will be in Rome to introduce The Sister Brothers [+lee también:

- his first English-language film and winner of the Silver Lion and of four Cesar awards - as well as a special segment organised in his honour, which will include a masterclass set to close the festival on 8 April. Having surpassed the US and Canada to become 2018’s leading foreign market for French cinema, Italy will host a total of 24 new titles hailing from the other side of the Alps, in a rich mix of well-known directors and emerging talents, as put together by Rendez-Vous Artistic Director, Vanessa Tonnini.
