Éva Fahidi was 20 years old when she returned home to Hungary all alone from Auschwitz Birkenau. Forty-nine members of her family were murdered, including her mother, her father and her little sister. Now, aged 90, Éva is asked to participate in a dance-theatre performance about her life. This would be the first time that she has performed on stage. Réka Szabó, the director, imagines a duet between Éva and young, internationally acclaimed dancer Emese Cuhorka. Réka wants to see these two women, young and old, interact on stage, to see how their bodies and their stories can intertwine. Éva agrees immediately: three women, three months and a story of crossing boundaries. While key moments of Éva's life are distilled into theatre scenes, a truly wonderful and powerful relationship forms between the three women.

Produced by Sára László and Marcell Gerő for Campfilm, and by Réka Szabó for The Symptoms, The Euphoria of Being was co-produced by László Jancsó (4Cut Post Digital), Philippe Fontenoy (Pom'Zed) and Szabolcs Győrffy. The film, which took part in Docu Talents @KVIFF, as well as the Baltic Sea Docs and Medimed pitching platforms, has secured backing from The March of the Living Foundation and the Hungarian Media Patronage Programme. The cinematography was entrusted to Claudia Kovács, while the sales are being overseen by US firm ro*co films.

As a reminder, Campfilm currently has Bullhorn Lullaby by Viktor Oszkár Nagy in production (see the article), and its list of credits also includes the doc Cain’s Children [+lee también:
