Film Fund Luxembourg invertirá 9,2 millones de euros en 20 nuevas producciones audiovisuales

The selection committee of the Film Fund Luxembourg’s national audiovisual support programme has announced that it will be backing 20 new domestic productions. In particular, production and development support for this slate of funding accounted for €9,217,341 and will contribute to the making of ten fiction films, four animated films, four documentaries, one TV series and one short fiction film.
The big winners of this round of funding are two animated movies – namely, Kirk Hendry and Neil Boyle’s Kensuke’s Kingdom, and Christian Volckman’s The Kid, both in receipt of a €1.9 million production grant. The first project is an adventure flick penned by Frank Cottrell Boyce and produced by Howald-based outfit Mélusine Productions in co-operation with French, British and Irish partners. Meanwhile, Volckman’s dramedy is a loose adaptation of Charlie Chaplin’s 1921 film of the same name, produced by Bidibul Productions in conjunction with French and Belgian firms.
The ten fiction films benefitting from the agency’s grants are Christian Neuman’s Stargazer (€29,000 in development funding, produced by Focusart Belle Sauvage), Andy Bausch’s The Little Duke (€60,000 in development funding, staged by Paul Thiltges Distributions), Govinda van Maele’s Halli Galli (€60,000 in development funding, staged by Les Films Fauves), Claude Lahr’s L’insondable Madame M (€30,000 in development funding, produced by Nowhere Land Productions), Loïc Tanson’s Laif A Séil (€30,000 in development funding, a Samsa Film production), Maggie Peren’s Der Passfälscher (€1,050,000 in production support, staged by Amour Fou Luxembourg in co-operation with German partners), Rodrigo Moreno’s The Delinquents (€200,000 in production support, produced by Les Films Fauves in collaboration with Brazilian, Argentinian and Chilean firms), Lisandro Alonso’s Eureka (€200,000 in production support, staged by Tarantula Luxembourg in co-operation with Argentinian, French, Portuguese and German outfits), Ruben Amar’s Silver Star (€200,000 in production support, staged by Bidibul Productions in co-operation with Lebanese and French producers) and Andrey Paounov’s January (€80,000 in production support, staged by Tarantula Luxembourg with Bulgarian and Portuguese co-producers).
Indra Siera and Jacques Molitor’s La Patrouille (€1,270,841, co-produced by Zeilt Productions and Belgian partners) is the TV series selected to receive production support, and the only short film in the list is Jonathan Becker’s drama Bellevue (€120,000, produced by Skill Lab). Moreover, the other two animated flicks backed by the organisation are Alexis Ducord and Vincent Paronnaud’s Dans la forêt sombre et mystérieuse (€30,000 in development funding, produced by Zeilt Productions), and Toby Genkel and Steve Hudson’s Stitch Head (€1,700,000 in production support, staged by Fabrique d’Images and German partners).
Finally, the four documentaries in receipt of support are Bady Minck and Loretta Walz’s Krieg Und Erinnerung (€55,000 in development funding, produced by Amour Fou Luxembourg), Pascoal Pocas’ Morabeza (€30,000 in development funding, a Wady Films production), Fabrizio Maltese’s Visage(s) d’Afrique (€217,500 in production support, staged by Red Lion) and Medhi Hmili’s Fouledh (€55,000 in production support, produced by Tarantula Luxembourg in co-operation with Tunisian and German partners). The selection committee weighed up 37 eligible projects and approved financial support for 20 of them.
