), who will breathe life into his heroine, 26-year-old Cassandre, an air hostess working for a low-cost airline. The filmmaker made a splash with his shorts, particularly Le Film de l’été, which was first unveiled at Berlin and won the Jean Vigo Award in 2017. This was followed by Castle to Castle, which was presented at the Locarno Film Festival, where it won the Golden Leopard. The film depicted the unexpected and unlikely companionship between a young scholarship student in a prestigious Parisian school and a wheelchair-bound old lady, set against the backdrop of the French presidential election campaign, a social inferiority complex and a burning desire for emancipation. Marre used a highly assertive style of cinema rooted in reality, where one can find an examination of both the most mundane elements and the most hard-hitting ones. This hybrid genre of film, captured on the fly, is something we should see once again in Carpe Diem.

The feature is being shot in two tranches – a month of principal photography in Wallonia and Lanzarote up until mid-March, and then a month of additional filming in Belgium, Lanzarote, Paris and Dubai in June. Flanking Adèle Exarchopoulos are Alexandre Perrier, who is also co-producing the movie, and young Belgian actress Mara Taquin, who appeared recently in The Specials [+lee también:
