The CCA (Wallonia-Brussels Federation Film and Audiovisual Centre) has decided to award production support to eight feature-film projects, most notably the feature debuts by two talents hailing from very different domains, Emmanuel Marre and Eve Duchemin. The former is making the leap to feature-length territory with Zero Fucks Given [+lee también:

 after turning heads with a couple of medium-length films that teetered between fiction and reality (Le Film de l’été and Castle to Castle), while the latter won the Magritte Award for Best Documentary three years ago for En bataille, portrait d’une directrice de prison. In Duchemin’s new feature, Time Out [+lee también:

, she takes another look at a prison environment, examining 36 hours in the lives of three inmates who have been granted leave. The film is being produced in Belgium by Kwassa Films.

Two other filmmakers are making their first features: Ivan Goldschmidt (nominated for an Oscar a few years ago for his short film Na Wewe), with Chaleur sans frontières, which is being produced, like The Restless [+lee también:

(see below), by Stenola; and Arnaud Demuynck, whom we have to thank for the successful La Chouette du Cinéma programmes of animated short films, intended for younger audiences. He is now switching formats with Yuku and the Flower of the Himalayas [+lee también:

, production duties on which are being handled by Artémis Productions.

Among the other feature-length projects that have received production support are those by seasoned filmmakers such as Joachim Lafosse, who is being backed for The Restless, a project he has been developing with his new producer, Anton Iffland Stettner (of Stenola Productions), with a cast including Jasmine Trinca; and David Lambert, who will direct Les Tortues [+lee también:

, which goes on general release on 26 February this year. The final feature to have received aid is Le Passage, the second film by Mohamed Amin Benamraoui, which is being staged by Thank You & Good Night Productions.

In total, during these two sessions of 2019, the CCA has supported 93 productions with a total sum of €6,239,400, split among 35 features, 15 short films, 40 creative documentaries and two experimental films.
