With one title in the race for the Golden Bear, a further film premiering in Panorama, a Special Screening, one Berlinale Gala and market screenings for four movies on the horizon, Berlin-based international sales agent Films Boutique seems all set for a successful trip to the upcoming Berlinale and the European Film Market (EFM, 20-27 February 2020).

In particular, the company is pinning its hopes on Mohammad Rasoulof’s Golden Bear contender There Is No Evil [+lee también:

. Produced by Germany’s Cosmopol Film, Filminiran and the Czech Republic’s Europe Media Nest, the film will look at Iran’s death penalty through the stories of four men who are forced to make an unthinkable decision.

The world sales agent will also be presenting Agnieszka Holland’s latest feature, Charlatan [+lee también:

, in Berlin. The historical drama focuses on 20th-century herbalist Jan Mikolášek, who rose to fame by using unorthodox treatment methods to cure a wide range of diseases. The film, staged by the Czech Republic’s Marlene Film Production, will premiere as a Special Gala during the 70th Berlin International Film Festival.

In the German capital, the company will also be negotiating deals for Jóhann Jóhannsson’s dystopian sci-fi flick Last and First Men [+lee también:

, to which the festival will dedicate a Special Screening. The film, directed by the composer who passed away in 2018 and who was behind the scores for Sicario, Arrival and The Theory of Everything [+lee también:

, is set two billion years in the future, at a time when the human race is on the verge of extinction. The feature was produced by Icelandic company Zik Zak Filmworks.

Another prominent title on Films Boutique’s Berlinale slate is Ray Yeung’s Panorama entry Suk Suk. The drama, which tells the story of two older men who fall in love, was staged by Hong Kong-based production company New Voice Film Productions.

Furthermore, Films Boutique will be at the EFM showcasing and negotiating deals for David Färdmar’s Are We Lost Forever [+lee también:
