Just as France’s Health and Safety Guide for Film Production Activities is undergoing validation by the ministries of Health and Work, and the compensation fund for film shoots, steered by the CNC, is set to launch on 1 June, actor Matthieu Rozé is busy pre-producing Azuro, the first feature film he has directed, which he is due to shoot from 7 July on southern France’s Blue Coast.

Shining bright at the head of the cast is Élodie Bouchez (the winner of the Best Actress César and Cannes’ Best Acting Performance award in 1999 for The Dreamlife of Angels, and the Best Actress Lumières award for Pupille [+lee también:

) and based upon Marguerite Duras’ novel The Little Horses of Tarquinia, the story takes place in summer, set against a sweltering heat and a changing climate. A group of friends return, as they do each year, to their favourite little village, nestled between the mountains and sea. As usual, they laze around, eat and drink a lot. They pay no heed to the fire spreading across the mountain, nor the world around them. But this year, an especially mysterious man will arrive from the sea on a golden boat, upsetting their supposed balance…

Produced by Veronique Zerdoun for Tabo-Tabo Films, Azuro is co-produced by Comic Strip Production. Mainly supported by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, and the SOFICA companies Cinéaxe and Indéfilms, the feature film will enjoy 20 days of shooting in the Marseille vicinity. Its release in France will be steered by Paname Distribution with international sales in the hands of Cité Films.
