An initiative which looks to promote filmmakers and producers from southern and emerging countries, offering tailored support to an annual selection of 10 first or second film projects, La Fabrique Cinéma has selected 114 projects since 2009 and has invited 204 directors and producers hailing from 63 different countries to take part in its programme, which often intervenes in the early development stage. To date, over 40% of the projects it has backed have come to fruition.

Jostling among the ten works chosen by La Fabrique Cinéma 2021 (steered by the Institut français in partnership with France Médias Monde, Sacem and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie) are six first feature films. In all, the selection includes seven fiction films and three documentaries, put forward by four women directors and six male directors, and by four women producers and six male producers. Six of these projects have already secured several European co-producing partners. Full details on the works (mini-synopses, intent, types of partners needed, budget, status, etc.) are available to browse here.
