The 29th edition of the Sguardi Altrove Film Festival, dedicated to women's cinema and artistic languages, will take place from 10 to 15 May in Milan in a hybrid version after the success of the latest editions, which were extended to a wider and more distant audience through the streaming of films.

The festival management has decided to dedicate a pre-opening, on 27 April, to Ukrainian director Natalya Vorozhbit's debut feature Bad Roads [+lee también:

, presented at the 35th Venice Film Festival Critics' Week and selected to represent Ukraine at the 2022 Oscars (Italian release on 28 April with Trent Film). Opening the festival will be Amy J. Berg's Phoenix Rising, the documentary about actress Evan Rachel Wood's experience of domestic and psychological abuse perpetrated by musician Marilyn Manson.

This year's new features include the out-of-competition sections Cinema (In)visibile and Women in Film and TV and Media, and a tribute to Lina Wertmüller, who recently passed away and was the first woman to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Director in 1977. The reflection on "Seriality and New Frontiers for Women" continues this year, with a panel scheduled for 14 May.
