THE BE ALL AND END ALL
by Bruce Webb
synopsis
Fifteen year olds Robbie and Ziggy think they'll be best mates forever, but when Robbie collapses on holiday and is diagnosed with a fatal heart condition, "forever" suddenly isn't such a long time. Lying in the children's ward at a Liverpool hospital, Robbie has only one thing on his mind: he doesn't want to die a virgin - and the only one who can help him achieve his goal is Ziggy, whose flawed attempts get him into all sorts of trouble: at school he gets beaten up by girls outraged at being propositioned and, at one point, has to rescue Robbie from a police raid. Until Ziggy finally hatches a plan that might, this time, actually work for Robbie, but not in a way either of them expects.
