A family from Palermo is forced to flee Sicily and hide in Tropea. Gennaro, the head of the family, has started to be involved in criminal activities in order to earn the money necessary to cure his wife Lucia, who suffers from a rare disease. However, Gennaro has never killed anyone, and is now ordered by the boss protecting him to kill a man. With the help of Lucia, Gennaro escapes to Calabria together with their son Mattia where a friend agrees to hide them. Here Mattia meets Sara, daughter of a Mafia Boss from Calabria, and falls in love with her.
