The number of films finding international representatives at the Finnish Film Affair – the industry sidebar of the Helsinki International Film Festival–Love & Anarchy – continues to grow. “The Finnish Film Affair has found its place in the market,” said executive director Sara Norberg ahead of the fifth edition of the event, which takes place between 20 and 22 September.

At the same time, Finland is producing more and more films with international appeal – large-scale productions currently shooting include Finnish directors Timo Vuorensola’s Iron Sky: The Coming RaceDome Karukoski’s Tom of Finland and Oscar nominee Selma Vilhunen’s Little Wing [+lire aussi :

While Finland’s biggest festival screens 180 features and 160 shorts to more than 60,000 visitors annually, the Finnish Film Affair is a networking platform for 300 sales agents, distributors, festival programmers, TV buyers and members of the press. This year’s programme includes 20 features and 15 new projects, which are either works in progress or one-minute pitches. will have its premiere in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes International Film Festival.

This year’s all-star industry panel, which will be moderated by industry veteran Adam Leipzig (Disney, National Geographic), will comprise Claudia Lewis, former vice-president of Fox Searchlight Productions; Mike Goodridge, CEO of Protagonist Pictures; Mike Runagall, co-founder and sales chief of Altitude Films; and agent Laura Munsterhjelm, of Actors in Scandinavia (who represents such stars as Swedish Oscar winner Alicia Vikander). The subjects for the panel include “Concepts and Stories that Travel”.
