by Maren Ade at the Cannes Film Festival, German world sales agent The Match Factory is receiving a lot of offers from buyers from myriad different countries around the world. Among the first distributors to have snapped up the compelling comedy is Sony Pictures Classics, a renowned US firm that has acquired the rights for North America and Latin America.

The huge success of the 162-minute film by writer-director Ade has come as a real surprise, especially as German films have not taken part in the Cannes competition for the last eight years. by Paul Verhoeven from SBS International. Based on the novel Oh... by French author Philippe Djian, the thriller was produced by Said Ben Said’s SBS Productions, Twenty Twenty Vision Filmproduktion and Entre Chien et Loup.
