Yesterday the 39th edition of the Sorrento Professional Days kicked off, promoted by Anec, the Italian Association of Film Exhibitors, in partnership with  Anica and Anem. Between now and 1 December at the Hilton Hotel, film exhibitors will be presented with the films due to be released over the coming months through conventions, trailers, previews and meetings with the filmmakers.

The president of Anec, Luigi Cuciniello, recalled yesterday that 2016 is drawing to a close with an increase in box office takings and admissions of 6-7%, but that there are a number of problems still to be tackled, such as the very weak summer programme and films flooding the market at other points in the season, leaving very little room for quality films. This year has seen the approval of the new film law, which will soon be followed by implementing decrees. “We’re being asked to demonstrate the solidity of the sector and speed like never before”, pointed out Francesca Cima, president of the producer section of Anica.
