fiche film], Swedish writer-director Lisa Aschan is currently shooting her third feature, a dramedy entitled Call Mom! [+lire aussi :

fiche film] The film deals with one of the most difficult and humorous relationships – the one between a mother and a daughter. Principal photography has been under way in Gothenburg since late October and will continue until December.

Written by Aschan, Call Mom! focuses on three generations of women and their struggles to communicate with each other. Sanna Sundqvist plays the leading role of the daughter, while Nina Gunke steps into the shoes of her mother. As the director explains, the story is about the impossible equation between parents, who live their whole lives expecting a “thank you” from their children, and on the other hand children, who for their part expect an “I’m sorry”. She also promises that this will not be a film about her own relationships, but her roles as a daughter and a mother have, of course, inspired her. She notes that as a daughter, she thought that she knew it all – that is, until she became a mother herself and had to re-evaluate her beliefs.

Aschan is veering away from her previous drama territory, and Call Mom! is a genuine dramedy that, according to Sundqvist, has one of the funniest screenplays she has ever received, which made her fall head over heels in love with her role. The rest of the cast includes Alexander Karim, Evin Ahmad, Jonatan Rodriguez, Eric Ericson, Björn Gustafsson, Cecilia Forss, Aleksa Lundberg, Viktor Frisk and Anna Mannheimer.

Call Mom! is being produced by Anna-Maria Kantarius, of Garagefilm International, with SF Studios, in association with Film i Väst and SVT, and has already received the support of the Swedish Film Institute and the Nordisk Film & TV Fond. SF Studios is also handling the international sales and aims to release the film in Sweden by the end of 2019.
