, Alaska, the TV series Tutto può succedere) and Matteo Rovere himself, Romulus is set eight centuries before Christ, in a primitive and brutal world where the destiny of each is decided by the implacable power of nature and of the gods. In an early form of Latin, it tells the story of that world through the eyes of three boys marked by death, solitude, and violence: Iemos, Wiros, and the young vestal Ilia. A story of men and women who discover how to create their fate instead of suffering it. A revolution also guided by a fierce yet protective, ruthless yet maternal female figure.

Romulus is a story about feelings, war, brotherhood, courage and fear”, says Rovere, who is also the founder of Groenlandia. “It is a great epic fresco, a highly realistic reconstruction of the events which led to the foundation of Rome. But most of all, it is an investigation into the origins and the profound significance of power in the West”.

“With Romulus, we wanted to tell the origin story of the power of Rome, and the tale that made it possible”, Riccardo Tozzi — founder of Cattleya — explains. “To launch such an ambitious project, you need to be able to count on a strong, creative, and motivating group of collaborators. We have created it with Groenlandia”.

Nicola Maccanico, Executive Vice President Programming at Sky Italia, defines Romulus as “a product with international reach, in which a new generation of Italian auteurs will shine. A project with, at its centre, the most recognisable brand of our country — Rome — but which is absolutely global at the same time”.
