The Manettis, who only recently completed the hotly anticipated work Diabolik [+lire aussi :

fiche film], also penned the screenplay to the present work, alongside Paolo Logli and Alessandro Pondi. Starring Lillo, Tobia De Angelis and Amanda Campana in lead roles, Il Mostro della cripta takes place in 1988. Young Giò (De Angelis), who’s little more than a teenage nerd, is flicking through the latest issue of his favourite comic "Team 666 – The Monster from the Crypt", written and illustrated by one of his all-time idols Diego Busirivici (Lillo), when he notices several parallels between the story being told in the publication and the atrocious events which are sowing death and terror in the village where he lives. A worrying mystery leads Giò and his eccentric group of friends towards an unusual adventure.

Shooting will unfold over six weeks in all, between Bologna and Bobbio. Produced by Mompracem and Vision Distribution (with the latter also distributing the film in Italian cinemas) in collaboration with Sky and Timvision, Il Mostro della cripta enjoys the support of the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission.
