The synopsis tells of how the peaceful life of the residents of the seaside settlement of Belmonte changes dramatically one day when a sex tape of schoolteacher Macarena and Iván, one of her adult students, surfaces online. This incident shakes the lives of all the residents to the core – and especially the teacher’s, who is shunned by her family and neighbours, including Ana, her best friend and the boy’s mother. The situation in the town becomes even more complicated when a dead body is found on a nearby cliff: whose corpse is it? And does the death have anything to do with the sex tape?

According to the series’ creator and director, Pau Freixas (who also has successful shows such as The Red Band Society, Los misterios de Laura and I Know Who You Are under his belt), “In 2020, which was a year monopolised by fear, caution and limitations, the journey we took on Todos mienten has been an incredible experience. It’s been epic and exhilarating to form part of a team that has been determined to push on while wearing face masks, having swabs thrust up their noses and observing social-distancing rules. And despite all of that – or maybe because of it, I don’t know – it’s ended up being one of the most pleasant and emotional projects I’ve ever worked on. It’s an honour and a privilege to have been part of this team, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the end result. I honestly believe that works of fiction can be altered by the state of mind of the people who create them, and so, without a doubt, this show will be steeped in good vibes.”

Todos mienten – a series comprising six episodes, lasting 45 minutes each – is a Movistar+ production in conjunction with Filmax. It will be aired on Movistar+ later this year.
