The Kimolos International Film Festival is taking place for the third year in a row on the scenic Cycladic Island of Kimolos, and this year’s edition will run from 21-28 June. All of the films will be screened at various locations on the island, while the opening movie will be the autobiographical war drama Sympathy for the Devil [+lire aussi :

Regarding the upcoming edition, the festival’s artistic director, Manuel de Coco, underlined: “The gathering has already been established as an important event. Many acclaimed guests, including professionals from the international film industry, journalists and cinephiles from all over Greece and abroad, are travelling to watch important independent films under the starry sky of Kimolos. We hope that our festival will continue to house the captivation of the seventh art in the future as well.”

As for the official competition of the Kimolos IFF, six films are partaking and are all having their Greek premieres at the event, while their world premieres were held at prestigious festivals, such as Venice, San Sebastián and Tallinn Black Nights, in 2020. A five-member international jury, headed by Bernadette Icovic, a member of the Cannes Critics’ Week team, will decide on the winners of the Kimolos Golden Tree and the Award for Best Director. The members of the jury comprise Italian film director, playwright, screenwriter and actress Francesca Bartellini; Romanian documentary film director Alina Manolache; Greek actor Giorgos Pyrpasopoulos; and local director of photography Aristotelis Metaxas.

The festival will wrap its third edition on Monday 28 June with the closing film, Sky Road, an anti-war drama by Syrian director Joud Said.
