fiche film] is the second film in a trilogy dedicated to women, after Hannah. Pallaoro has once again written the original screenplay, together with Orlando Tirado, who already co-wrote the director’s two previous films..

Monica is the intimate portrait of a woman who, for the first time in 20 years, returns home to the Midwest to take care of her ailing mother. Through themes of abandonment, aging, rejection, acceptance and forgiveness, we get to know Monica and her world made of pain, fear, but also courage. A journey through the needs and desires of a woman which offers a knowing gaze at the human condition.

fiche film]), Adriana Barraza (Oscar nominated for Babel, starring in Amores Perros and the series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels among others), Trace Lysette (Hustlers, the series Transparent), Emily Browning (Golden Exits, the series American God) and Joshua Close (arriving on set from filming Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese).

The film is produced by Gina Resnick (the 2002 American film Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, Medeas), Christina Dow (Hannah), Eleonora Granata (Medeas) and Andrea Pallaoro for Monica - The Movie LLC, and is co-produced by Marina Marzotto and Mattia Oddone for Propaganda Italia with Rai Cinema, Riccardo Di Pasquale, Antonio Adinolfi and Gabriele Oricchio for Fenix Entertainment and with Giorgia Lo Savio for Alacran Pictures (USA).

Monica is supported by the selective call for projects for minority co-productions of the Culture Ministry. International sales are handled by The Exchange (USA).
