Its storyline introduces us to Isa, who has it all: she’s smart, pretty, young, impulsive and self-assured. This polyamorous feminist fights tooth and nail for her very existence. When Guillem suggests that they make their relationship monogamous, she is not sure that she wants to change her lifestyle so drastically. Given her failure to make a decision, Guillem decides to break up with her, and Isa has to go back home to her mum’s house. Living in a world of facades and home comforts, her hesitations between new lovers and old flames, her fascination for new friends who encourage her to leave her old ones behind, and her professional doubts in the face of her modern but unstable job, will all bring to light this girl’s contradictions and those of her lifestyle, and her world will start collapsing.

In the words of its director, “Through the eyes of Isa – and her particular point of view – Unicornios explores the limitations of a millennial urbanite in a non-stop reality. The endless array of possibilities that open up before her and the chance to give practically everything a try may well bring her to the brink of ending up with nothing at all.” Meanwhile, producer Valérie Delpierre (One for All [+lire aussi :

) defines the film as “a portrait of a generation seeking to redefine a woman’s role and her active involvement in important life decisions, among other things. It’s a cosmopolitan microcosm that, through Álex’s eyes, combines with an indie film aesthetic while simultaneously tackling a topic common to the whole globe.”

Lora (Barcelona, 1979), a director, editor, screenwriter and even occasional actor, has forged a significant career in the world of short films: standing out among his works of this type are Odysseus’ Gambit (Sundance in 2012), Godka Circa (Sundance and the Málaga Film Festival in 2014) and Thy Father’s Chair (IDFA in 2015, Documenta Madrid in 2016).
