Last week, Prime Video announced its forthcoming Spanish Amazon Original productions, which will be released on the platform, thus reinforcing its investment in Spanish fiction (following in the footsteps of Netflix and HBO Max). They will comprise four series and two feature films: the latter are Awareness, a science-fiction flick produced by Federation Spain and directed by Daniel Benmayor (Bruc, el desafío [+lire aussi :

), and starring Javier Gutiérrez, Carmen Machi and Sílvia Abril.

The latter feature, produced by Felicitas, with a cast rounded off by Asier Ricarte, Carla Díaz, Antonia San Juan, Pepón Nieto and Marta Fernández Muro, is set in the summer of 1991, as the Gaspar family begin their holidays on the beach; however, after an argument with her father, teenage daughter Lucía decides to elope with her boyfriend. The rest of the family is then caught in an electrical storm while on board a pedalo, and once they manage to get back to shore, they discover they have travelled through time, to the year 2022!

Meanwhile, in the thriller Awareness (which also straddles fantasy), the young audience that the movie is aimed at will get to know a rebellious teenage boy living with his father on the fringes of society: they make a living through petty scams, thanks to the boy’s extraordinary ability to project visual images into other people’s minds.

Two fictional series projects were also submitted: an adaptation of the trilogy by Juan Gómez-Jurado, Reina Roja, a series being produced by Dopamine and Focus, which tells the fascinating story of Antonia Scott, a woman who has a gift that is simultaneously a blessing and a curse: an extraordinary intelligence. Thanks to her razor-sharp mind, she has saved dozens of lives, but she has also lost everything.

The thriller Los Farad (working title) is an eight-episode series directed by Mariano Barroso (La línea invisible [+lire aussi :

), and it was also created by him together with his regular collaborator Alejandro Hernández, who penned the screenplay. Inspired by real-life events, it will whisk the audience away to Marbella in the 1980s and follow Óskar, a boy who dreams of setting up a gym and who ends up immersed in the world of the Costa del Sol, complete with its jet set, its quirks and its geopolitics. It is being produced by MOD and Espotlight.

In addition, two other series that have already been filmed have been picked up. Sin huellas, starring Carolina Yuste and Camila Sodi, comprising eight episodes and produced by Zeta Studios, is a “paella western” about two girls on the run, shot in Alicante and Barcelona, and helmed by Paco Caballero (The Neighbor [+lire aussi :

), Koldo Serra (Money Heist) and Samantha López Speranza. Its cast is topped off by Silvia Alonso, Borja Luna, Álex Gadea, Adrian Grösser, Adriana Torrebejano and Pastora Vega.

Lastly, with directorial duties handled by María Ripoll (Vivir dos veces [+lire aussi :

), Un asunto privado (Bambú Producciones) uses an eight-episode format to recount how, in late-1940s Galicia, Marina Quiroga (played by Aura Garrido), a daring young upper-class woman who is really a police officer at heart, resolves to pursue the serial killer who has been on the prowl in the city, and she does so with the help of her loyal butler, Héctor, played by French thesp Jean Reno. Ángela Molina, Álex García, Gorka Otxoa, Tito Valverde, Pablo Molinero, Sara Sanz and Andrés Velencoso are also among the cast.
