The film is based on the novel of the same name by author and journalist Berna González-Harbour, and it was adapted for the screen by the director herself together with Helio Mira. The storyline is set in Madrid, during the summer of 2010. There, superintendent María Ruiz (played by Marta Nieto) grapples with a sinister crime: a young man has turned up, murdered, with nothing to visibly identify him nor any apparent clues… Not even a motive. The conscientious Ruiz will begin an investigation that will become more and more complicated. However, she is not alone: seasoned journalist Luna (José Coronado), a respected authority in a profession threatened by the crisis and the digital age, and Tomás (Francesco Carril), a brilliant police IT expert, will be key figures as she tries to get to the bottom of the case.

Belén Macías was clearly excited at the start of principal photography: “I will spend a number of weeks working with some fantastic actors, with whom I’ve been rehearsing for a while, in locations that have added an enormous amount of production value to the movie and with a crew who are highly enthusiastic to bring in their knowledge as we tell this story. There’s this contagious, delectable, playful energy. Bring it on!”

Macías (Tarragona, 1970) studied higher education in Madrid: she got her degree in Information Sciences at the Complutense University and graduated in Acting at the Royal Higher College of Performing Arts (RESAD). She also studied Screenwriting at the San Antonio de los Baños Film School (Cuba). After having cut her teeth in the world of advertising and television, she directed the short films El puzzle and Mala espina, which scooped more than 70 prizes.
