Starting today, and all the way up until Saturday 1 October, Ourense will be the Galician capital of arthouse film. Over the course of this week, the 27th Ourense International Film Festival (OUFF) will host the screenings of over 100 titles, scattered among its various sections. The official section will boast 13 features, all of which will be titles getting their Galician premieres. However, in addition to this, the gathering will host a number of Spanish premieres – namely, films of the likes of Remains of the Wind [+lire aussi :

As well as showcasing the titles that will be going head to head in an attempt to win prizes totalling €52,000, the festival will pay tribute to key figures from today’s cinema landscape. ) will be honoured with the Special Prize of the 27th OUFF, and the Honorary Calpurnia will be granted to filmmaker Jaime Chávarri. The latter will be in attendance in Ourense to present his most recent work, La manzana de oro [+lire aussi :

, and will make the most of his time at the festival by dispensing a master class on how to direct actors and actresses.

The varied programme of the OUFF will be rounded off by parallel sections such as Inédito en Ourense, Sesiones Especiales, Ciclo Xacobeo, Cine e auga, Panorama Galicia, Cine y Literatura, Cine na cadea, Ciclo Nicolás Echevarría, Ciclo Unam, OUFF Series and Cine en Familia. Besides these highlights, there will be photo exhibitions, meetings with industry professionals, film-focused strolls around the city and concerts.
