The Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT SA) has announced its support for 17 Greek and international co-productions during the first round of financing of its new funding committee. As announced at the press conference that took place during the Thessaloniki International Film Festival back in November, and which created much turmoil within the local film industry, the new board is entirely composed of the Greek pubcaster’s employees, while one of the criteria for a project to be selected was the compatibility of the film with ERT’s future programming.

The support granted totals €950,000, in accordance with the 1.5% of its gross income that broadcasters should allocate to Greek cinema. The selection comprises nine fiction titles, six documentaries and two animated feature-film projects.

 by first-time Greek-South African editor-director Etienne Kallos, a French-Greek-Polish-South African co-production by Cinéma DefactoHereticLava Films and Spier Films. Other titles include the long-awaited debut feature Ark by Aristotelis Maragkos and the international co-production Dresden Porcelain Dolls by Alexis Tsafas. Finally, Grigoris Karantinakis returns to cinema with his first film since his 2005 debut, Chariton's Choir, which is being produced by Faliro House.

The feature-length fiction projects that will receive a total grant of €695,000 are the aforementioned The Harvesters by Kallos (production company: Heretic) and Ark by Maragkos (Plays2place), Mia Asinithisti Elliniki Kideia Sta Karpathia by Karantinakis (Faliro House), Dresden Porcelain Dolls by Tsafas (Inkas Film Productions – Uwe Nadler), Eftihia by Katerina Evangelakou (Isaak Nikos Hasid), O Vasilis O Arvanitis by Irini Vahlioti and Panagiotis Klidaras (View Master Films), I Dexia Tsepi tou Rasou by Giannis Lapatas (ARTemis), Piknos Kairos by Giorgos N Bakolas (KaBel – Katerina Beligianni) and Persophone by Costas Athousakis (Sisyphus Projects/Costas Athousakis).

The documentaries are being supported with a total amount of €195,000, and the feature-length projects are Evropi O Evropi by Elina Psykou (production company: Αnemon Productions), 1,000sq Chronou by Maro Anastopoulou (Inkas Film Productions), Anazitontas ton Niko by Giorgos Kotanidis (2K Films – Giorgos Kalomenopoulos), O Telefteos Partizanos by Andreas Hadjipateras (Exile Films), Stin Akri tou Ponou by Kalliopi Legaki (Maria Gentekou) and Stafidiko Zitima: O Polemos tis Stafidas by Panagiotis Kakavias (Panagiotis Kakavias).

Finally, the two animated films will be funded with €60,000, and the titles in question are Ola Gia tin Karekla by Iordanis Ananiadis (Magikon) and The Sea Tranced Isle by Effie Pappa (Animate Corfu).
