As a reminder, Raúl de la Fuente was shortlisted for the Oscar and won the Goya Award for Best Short Documentary for Minerita, and Damian Nenow was shortlisted for the Oscar in 2012 for his animated short Paths of Hate. A hybrid film that blends animation (for the most part) with documentary camerawork, Another Day of Life boasts a screenplay penned by Raúl de la Fuente and Amaia Remírez together with David WeberNiall Johnson and Damian Nenow, and is based on Ryszard Kapuscinski’s book of the same name. The plot kicks off in Warsaw in 1975. Ryszard Kapuscinski (43) is a brilliant veteran journalist, an idealist and a friend of lost causes and revolutions. At the Polish Press Agency, he convinces his boss to send him to Angola, where a bloody civil war has broken out on the eve of the country's independence. He embarks on a seemingly suicidal road trip into the heart of the civil war. There, he witnesses once again the dirty reality of war and discovers a sense of helplessness previously unknown to him. Angola will change him forever: it was a reporter that left Poland, but it was a writer that returned.

Production duties were handled by Poland’s Platige Image and Spain’s Kanaki Films, with Belgium’s Walking the Dog, Germany’s Animationsfabrik and Wüste Film, and Hungary’s Puppetworks serving as co-producers. The feature will be distributed in Germany by Pandora, in Poland by Next Film and in Spain by Golem Distribución.

At Cannes, Indie Sales will also have high hopes for the market premiere of another animated film: the Brazilian feature Tito and The Birds by Gustavo SteinbergGabriel Bitar and André Catoto, which has just been selected in competition for the upcoming Annecy Film Festival (11-16 June).

At the Film Market, Indie Sales is also due to unveil an exclusive promo reel for Mademoiselle de Joncquières by Emmanuel Mouret (see the article – starring Cécile de FranceEdouard BaerAlice Isaaz and Laure Calamy) and the first trailer for Mother’s Instinct [+leggi anche:
