The first edition of the Brussels International Film Festival drew to a close on Saturday 30 June by unveiling its list of winners. The Grand Prix in the European Competition was bestowed upon the feature debut by French director Bertrand MandicoThe Wild Boys [+leggi anche:

The Wild Boys, a coming-of-age tale depicting the fantastic and epic odyssey undertaken by five young boys who are the subjects of a mysterious trial and subsequently transform into girls, has enjoyed a string of festival appearances since being selected at Venice, before its inclusion in the European Competition programme at the BRIFF. Meanwhile, the Jury Prize in this competition was given to The Return [+leggi anche:

 by Malene Choi Jensen, which is about the quest of two young people of Korean heritage who are Danish by adoption, as they travel to their country of birth in search of their identity. A Special Mention was also bestowed upon the French film Shéhérazade [+leggi anche:

The National Competition put Belgian documentaries firmly centre stage, as the Grand Prix was given to So Help Me God by Yves Hinant and Jean Libon, the big-screen offshoot of the cult show Strip Tease, which follows the colourful daily life of examining magistrate Anne Gruwez, while a Special Mention went to Ceres [+leggi anche:
