The story, written by Zoltán Nagy and János Antal Horváth, is a coming-of-age tale set in the modern-day Hungarian countryside, where teenage soloist Dávid decides to stand up for Nóri, 13, a cellist in their youth orchestra who is having a suspiciously close relationship with their 60-year-old conductor. While David is searching for the truth, his life soon starts to spiral out of control as he faces tough decisions and must grapple with adult society’s negligence. Interestingly, the screenplay was developed at Wroclaw's New Horizons Studio in 2017 and as part of the My First Script workshop organised the same year by the Zagreb Film Festival, where it won the Award for Best Project.

Produced by Gábor Osváth and László Dreissiger for FilmfabriqOn the Quiet has a budget of €300,000, including co-productions by KMH Film (Ferenc Pusztai) and Vertigo Media (György Kárpáti), which will be in charge of the Hungarian theatrical release. Supported by the Hungarian National Film Fund through its Incubator programme, the feature will be shot over the course of 26 days, up until 31 August (in Budapest, Nyíregyháza, Szatmárcseke and on the banks of the Tisza River), with Nándor Gulyás serving as DoP.
