The screenplay, which was penned by Matthieu Petit and Christian Moullec, was adapted by Nicolas Vanier and Lilou Fogli, who also wrote the dialogue. It revolves around a father and son, Christian and Thomas. Christian, an ornithologist, is working on a lifelong project: he wants to teach orphaned white-fronted geese how to migrate. Using his ultralight aeroplane, he will guide them from Norway to France, along safe migration routes. Thomas is sceptical about his father’s foolhardy plans, but while he is stuck on his dad’s farm, the teenager gets to spend some time with the birds. Gradually, Thomas connects with the geese and starts to take care of them. Soon, father and son embark on the most fantastic journey…

Produced by Clément Miserez and Matthieu Warter for Radar Films together with SND, which will also oversee the French distribution and international sales, Spread Your Wings is being co-produced by France 2 Cinéma. The feature, which has also been pre-purchased by Canal+ and OCS, will be shot over a period of ten weeks, seven of which in France (in the Camargue, Hauts-de-France, Loir-et-Cher and Paris). Principal photography will wrap on 26 October this year, while the French theatrical release is scheduled for 9 October 2019.
