Digital Production Challenge II is a three-and-a-half-day, hands-on workshop that offers participants bespoke technical guidance to help them overcome the difficulties they are encountering with their production workflow, whether on fiction or documentary films. Experts such as Tommaso Vergallo (CEO, Noir Lumière), DIT supervisor Florian Rettich, cinematographer and digital imaging supervisor Philippe Ros and producer Martin Hagemann (Zero Fiction Film) will offer technical solutions via case studies, expert panel discussions, and both one-to-one and group consultations.

by Milo Rau. DPC II 2016 alumna Jessica Ask, from Sweden, will share her workflow experience on Halvdan Viking (produced by Anagram), set to be released in the Nordic countries in late October.

Among the tutors is Dutch post-production specialist Miga Bär – formerly of Amsterdam’s Filmmore, now of Netflix. “Post-production is sometimes frowned upon, or is deemed too difficult or uninteresting,” Bär said. “DPC II translates all of the technical stuff into layman’s terms and underlines why technical decisions are very often creative decisions as well.”

The workshop is suitable for everyone who is doing production in Europe, especially line producers and people in the field. Professionals on set usually miss what goes on in post-production because their job is done and dusted when the set is dismantled.
