The second Warsaw Kids Film Forum (WKFF), a pitching session for projects targeted at young audiences, which took place from 26-28 September in the Polish capital, was an industry event held as part of the fifth edition of the Kids Film Festival. The winning projects were: Sara Božanić’s Twisted Tales (Financing Forum for Kids Content Award and Kids Regio Award), Triple Trouble by Marta Karwowska (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs Award), Young Tesla and the Idea Poachers by Petar Orešković (CeTA - Audiovisual Technology Center Award of approximately €14,000), Ring of Life by Sasha Kirienko (CeTA - Audiovisual Technology Center Award of approximately €18,000) and The Little Odyssey by Jakub Kouril (Kids Film.Pro Development Workshop Award).

Overall, 34 projects from 11 different regions (including Germany, the UK, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Macedonia and more) were invited to take part in the event. The projects were presented at three sessions, depending on which stage of development they were in: Projects in Development, Works in Progress and – a new addition this year – Script Exchange. “I consider this year’s forum to have been very successful,” Maciej Jakubczyk, head of the Warsaw Kids Film Forum, told Cineuropa. “We had just over 200 guests from more than 25 countries. I am glad that so many television representatives, mainly from Germany, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway and Poland, as well as sales agents and distributors, showed up. We are already seeing positive signs regarding Dutch co-production involvement in Polish projects.” Apart from the high attendance levels, Jakubczyk was also satisfied with the great feedback on the quality of the projects that he received from the forum’s international guests. “Apart from the pitching sessions, the most important part of the WKFF was the presentation of the newest TV projects developed by Scandinavian TV channels YLE and NRK. They are the frontrunners in fighting for young audiences’ attention,” he concluded.

The Warsaw Kids Film Forum was organised by the Educational Department of the New Horizons Association, and was co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, the City of Warsaw and Creative Europe
