The Gan Foundation for Cinema, which has supported first and second feature films for over 30 years, has unveiled the list of the five projects selected in 2018 to receive funding. Among them is Tout le monde m’appelle Mike [+leggi anche:

Everyone Calls Me Mike), which is the first feature by the director Guillaume Bonnier, who has worked as a first assistant on twenty films (directed by the likes of Philippe Garrel, Xavier Beauvois, Bruno Podalydès, Patrice Chéreau, Rachid Bouchareb, Hiner Saleem, etc.). The director wrote the film’s screenplay himself, with filming due to take place in Guadeloupe and Djibouti in early 2019 and a cast starring Abderissaak Mohamed, Damien Chapelle and Anaïs Demoustier. The film kicks off with three main characters: Thibault, Isabelle and their son, Jérémie. On board their sailboat, far from their home country, they're giving themselves a fresh start. They are happy. But Thibault is worried. The Gulf of Aden is watched over by Somali pirates and heading there alone could be dangerous. In Djibouti, he meets Mike, a young man he knows nothing about. Convinced that he can trust him, he invites him aboard. And three soon becomes four... The project is a co-production managed by Cédric Walter for Spectre Production with with Indie Prod (Éric Névé) and an advance on earnings from the CNC. The film's French distribution is being handled by Rezo Films.
