, the feature, which he wrapped principal photography on at the end of November. Shooting for the drama lasted six weeks and took place in Landes (France) and Madrid.

The film, which is currently in post-production, is a Spanish-French co-production, with dialogue in both French and Spanish, which boasts a screenplay penned by Sorogoyen and his regular writing partner, Isabel Peña. In it, we become reacquainted with the same character of a woman who lost her son when he was about to go surfing with his father on the French coast. According to the synopsis provided by the producers, “Elena lost her six-year-old son Iván on a French beach. Now she lives on that very same beach and is beginning to emerge from the dark tunnel she has been stuck inside all this time.” The team behind it claims that the idea for this feature predated the development of the short film, which has already been released and festooned with awards both within Spain and abroad.

Madre – the cast of which is topped off by Álex Brendemühl, Frédéric Pierrot, Anne Consigny and Jules Porier – is being produced by MalvalandaCaballo FilmsArcadia Motion Pictures, Amalur Pictures, Noodles Productions (France) and Le Pacte (France), and it has secured backing from RTVEMovistar Plus+ and Canal+ FranceWanda Visión will release it in autumn 2019, most likely after it has taken part in a major festival during the month of September, such as Toronto, Venice or San Sebastián.
