), this year’s statuettes are more likely to be handed to US talent. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominees for the upcoming edition of the awards, whose ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on 6 January.

 shines with five nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Olivia Colman, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz and Best Screenplay for Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara. by Bryan Singer is also nominated (somewhat surprisingly) in the Best Motion Picture – Drama category, while its lead Rami Malek is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. These two films will be duking it out in the main categories against 100% US titles such as Vice (six nominations), Green Book and A Star is Born (five nods) and Mary Poppins Returns (four nods).
