When it comes to the European Film Market of the 69th Berlinale (from 7 to 17 February), French sales company Doc & Film International will no doubt by showcasing Afghan Hassan Fazili’s documentary Midnight Traveler [+leggi anche:

, which won the special jury prize at Sundance (produced by the USA, Qatar, the UK and Canada), and is due to be screened in the Panorama section at Berlin. But the team, run by Daniela Elstner, also has its eye on the future.

The company’s line-up also includes Of Men by Belgian director Lucas Belvaux, with filming slated to start this spring. The film stars Gérard Depardieu (nominated for an Oscar in 1991 for Best Actor, winner of the Best Actor Award at Cannes in 1990 and at Venice in 1985 and nominated 17 times for a César Award for Best Actor, winning the award twice. Depardieu is also due to start filming C’est extra and will be seen in Convoi exceptionnel in March), Catherine Frot (winner of a César Award in 2016 for Best Actress for Marguerite [+leggi anche:

(2017). Of Men is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Laurent Mauvignier. Set in Burgundy, France in 2003. Solange's 60th birthday party is interrupted by her estranged brother, Feu-de-Bois. His outburst brings back painful memories: the untold stories of a generation marked by the Algerian war. Production will be handled by the Parisian company Synecdoche with the Belgian outfit Artémis in co-production.

David Ebersole and Todd Hughes (which focuses on the success of hte infamous French tailor Pierre Cardin) will be ready in the autumn.
