It came as no surprise to anyone when Roma, a co-production between Mexico and the USA (Netflix), directed by Alfonso Cuarón, emerged victorious yesterday, roundly trouncing its rivals at the sixth edition of the Platino Awards, co-organised by EGEDA and FIPCA (the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers), and supported by the Latin American Film Academies and Institutes, Latin Artis and the AISGE Foundation. It went home with five trophies: Best Ibero-American Fiction Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Sound.
