Adapted by the director from Noëlle Renaude’s play Il faut un héritier (lit. We Need an Heir), the script centres on Paul Château Têtard who falls in love with Ava, a young woman working at a metro ticket counter. The wedding isn’t to the taste of the mother-in-law, nicknamed the Queen Mother, but she makes do because Paul, at 48 years old, does not have any children: an heir would be welcome. But the baby does not arrive and Ava and Queen Mother are at war. The latter is convinced that Ava is cheating on her son so she hires a detective to follow her. A baby is finally expected! But is Paul the father? The detective investigates…
