(2019), a comedy starring Mille Dinesen, Lærke Winther and Stephania Potalivo in the lead roles.

White Sands is based on a screenplay penned by writing duo Anders Rønnow Klarlund and Jacob Weinreich, best known as AJ Kazinski, who have lived in the Danish seaside community of Hvide Sande (“White Sands” in English), where the story is set. In detail, the series follows German detective Thomas (played by Carsten Bjørnlund) and Danish cop Helene (Marie Bach Hansen), who are both in the doldrums after turning their backs on love. Assigned to work together on a crime investigation in the titular picture-perfect but tight-knit seaside community, they are forced to live as a couple as they take on a tough job. They gradually come to terms with one another ‒ in life and in love ‒ in this strange yet beautiful surfer town surrounded by odd and dangerous people.

White Sands is being produced by David Østerbøg for Danish outfit Deluca Film. The project was commissioned by Danish pubcaster TV2, with co-financing from Finland’s YLE, Norway’s NRK, Sweden’s TV4/C More and the Nordisk Film & TV Fond, among other backers. Paris-based distribution firm Newen Connect (a division of Newen, controlled by TF1 Group) will handle global sales outside the Nordic region. The series will be ready for release in 2021.
