The Ibermedia programme, which provides financial support for the audiovisual industries, has announced its grant winners for 2020. This year marks the inauguration of a new application category, dedicated to TV series in development. A total of 123 Latin American projects (many with European partners on board) will receive an award in one of four categories: co-production (48 projects), development (43), series (20) and training (12).

Spain is well represented, with three projects awarded grants: Gus, el perro guía, an animated film by Desarrollos Mediáticos Int. SL to be directed by Bruno Filipe Martins, Los tortuga, a fiction film by Oberon Media, and Olivia y el terremoto invisible, another animated adventure by Citoplasmas Stop Motion SL. A number of Spanish TV projects were also selected for support, including two fictional dramas — ‘Ay’ Loviu Habana by Tornasol S.L. and Galimberti by El estudio Filmmakers S.L. — and Súper Valentina, an animated series by Abano Producions S.L. The Madrid School of Cinematography and Audiovisual Studies (EMAC) was a worthy winner in the training category for its Master’s in Audiovisual Business and Distribution.
