The fifth edition of the Ibizacinefest – Ibiza International Independent Film Festival, a gathering headed up by filmmaker Xavi Herrero (Salka, In No Man’s Land [+leggi anche:

), unspooled from 26 February-7 March via the Filmin platform (click here), in anticipation of the in-person, physical screenings that are set to take place – whenever the health situation permits them – on the beautiful Mediterranean island in the coming months. On Monday, the winners’ list was revealed, in which the feature La vida en común (Argentina/France), filmed in the north of the South American country by Ezequiel Yanco, came out on top, winning the Jury Prize.

Said jury was made up of Ángela Bosch, Juan Marí Susierra, Pascual Fernández, Carles Fabregat, Juanjo Ribas, Josep Sendra, Ángel Roldán, Claudia Tur-Fauquex, Mónica Timperi and Patrice Blanquart. Meanwhile, the critics’ jury comprised María Abad, José Antonio Miranda and Ágata Alicia Michot, and the Fem-Cine jury consisted of María Guadalupe Nauda, Itziar Arratibel Ostolaza and Mayte Carrasco.

In the Humans in Focus section, it was the feature I Am the Sun (Spain/France) by Ilária Gambarelli that ended up with the top prize, although the audience plumped for the Spanish documentary El Drogas [+leggi anche:

by Óscar Martín (Spain) picked up a Special Mention. The Blogos de Oro-Critics’ Award was bestowed upon the daring Belgian title Birdsong by Hendrik Willemyns.

In the industry strand of the event, the winner was the feature-length project Crisálida by Alicia Albares (Spain), whereas in the Fem-Cine sidebar, the Jury Prize went to 16, 20 tense minutes railing against violence, helmed by Spaniard Ana Lambarri. A Special Mention went to the medium-length film on gender relations The End of Kings (France) by Rémi Brachet. The audience watching via Filmin opted for the short film Laatash (Spain) by Elena Molina.
