) and Gilles Taurand (the winner of the Best Original Screenplay César in 1995, who has since received three further nominations within this category, and four for the Best Adapted Screenplay trophy) based upon Catherine Poulain’s novel of the same name, the story homes in on 35-year-old Lili who decides to leave everything behind to go fishing in the far North. This “man’s world” will see her negotiating her fears, her physical exhaustion and nature unleashed, but above all, she will need to come to terms with who she really is to win a freedom unlike any other…

Grand Marin is produced by Marianne Slot and Carine Leblanc on behalf of Parisian firm Slot Machine, in co-production with Arte France Cinéma, Rouge International, Belgium’s Scope Pictures and three Icelandic outfits: Gullslottid, Gulldrengurinn and Mystery Pictures. Pre-purchased by Arte and Canal+, the feature film also benefits from an advance on receipts from the CNC, as well as the support of the Gan Film Foundation and Procirep. The 30-day film shoot will unfold in Iceland between 1 June and 10 July, with distribution in French cinemas entrusted to Rezo Films.
