Best Friend Forever and its team composed of Martin Gondre, Charles Bin and Marc Nauleau are disembarking at the 27th Cannes Film Festival with a bag full-to-bursting with goodies, both in terms of the Pre-Cannes Screenings (running online from 21 to 25 June) and the physical Marché du Film (running 6 to 15 July).

, which is a hilarious and shocking, political comedy starring Denis Podalydès, Blanche Gardin, Christophe Paou, Alexandre Steiger and Vincent Dedienne. This scathing and provocative French film, produced by Mamma Roman and Rectangle Productions, is expected to cause quite a stir on the Croisette and will be distributed in France by way of The Jokers.

The Directors’ Fortnight, meanwhile, should thrust Medusa into the spotlight, a second feature film by Brazilian director Anita Rocha Da Silveira which is in the vein of Gabriel Mascaro or even Dario Argento and which is 100% Brazilian in its production (steered by Bananeira Filmes). Best Friend Forever are chiefly hoping to find a French distributor for this modern and decidedly feminist, pop film.

, which is produced by 5 à 7 Films in co-production with Lotta Films. An ensemble work, part documentary and part fiction, delving into the world of young Corsicans today, the movie will enjoy its French premiere here, having previously scooped a Special Jury Prize in Rotterdam.

These three selections are an excellent result for the fledgling firm - which is a subsidiary of Indie Sales, who themselves boast 6 films in the Cannes showcase – and they confirm the impressive performance of Best Friend Forever thus far, who will be turning up to the traditional Cannes market with a rich array of films which have already been sold worldwide, such as All Eyes Off Me [+leggi anche:

by Egyptian director Ayten Amin, which is co-produced by Wim Wenders, was awarded Cannes’ 2020 label, was presented in Berlin and was recently screened at the Tribeca Film Festival, where the two lead actresses scooped a best actress award.

Last but not least, Best Friend Forever are also selling Bootleggers by the Canadian Caroline Monnet, currently in post-production, which tells the story of a young and ambitious lawyer who returns home to her indigenous community, where she hopes to help call into question the patriarchal laws governing people’s lives. She encounters various forms of resistance, notably that of a bootlegger who illegally smuggles alcohol into the community. Produced by Microclimat Films (Canada), the film won Cinéfondation’s Best Screenplay award in 2017 and lists Devery Jacobs and Pascale Bussières among its cast.

Best Friend Forever are also set to announce new acquisitions towards the beginning of the festival.
