Less Is More vi invita a LIM MEET

Questo articolo è disponibile in inglese.

Organised both physically on the shores of Western Brittany and broadcasted worldwide online, LIM MEET, the annual meeting of Less Is More, will run this year from 8-9 November. This event will mark the beginning of the new path for LIM, into becoming “The European feature film programme for committed filmmakers in a changing world.”

The first part of LIM MEET is dedicated to the presentation of the sixteen feature film projects that have been selected and developed this year. It should be noted that this selection comes out of 400 applicants hailing from 75 countries (read the news). Each of the projects has been selected for its humanist perspective on tomorrow, from filmmakers working on their debut or sophomore works. Industry professionals will have a chance to follow the presentation on Monday 8 November from 09:00 – 13:00 CET and participants will have a chance to meet producers afterwards.

The other important aspect of the two-day event is a brainstorming session under the umbrella of StoryTANK called “Insights and the Meaning factory,” which will involve researchers and producers and will be held on Tuesday 9 November. During this event, participants will aim to find answers to questions such as what might be the impact that films have on society and whether we need “Meaning Makers,” more than ever.

This comes as a follow-up on the discussions which took place during the second season of StoryTANK (read the news), and will try to unveil the ways independent filmmakers are working and conceiving their films to become highly political in the best possible sense, to reach humans, spectators, citizens. Furthermore, the session will explore the necessity of films which carry meaning in a world where materialism has shaped a consumption of void on big screens.

Among the participating experts of the three insightful presentations are Nancy Huston, writer of The Fabulatory Species, Tomas Axelson, associate professor in sociology of Dalarna University (Sweden) (who will focus on the subject "Humans are Meaning Makers Animals”) and Antoine Le Bos, founder of Le Groupe Ouest and StoryTANK who will discuss storytelling and the generation of meaning during the development process.

LIM will also further explore its new perspective for its upcoming editions (read the news), since working with limitations as a development or research tool to trigger both creativity and substance for films is the frame of mind the organisation wants to foster in a time of intense concern for sustainability and meaning.

The complete schedule of the event, along with the invitation to attend LIM MEET 2021, can be found here.

Less is More is supported by Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme of the European Union, led by Le Groupe Ouest (France), developed with Control N (Romania), Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds – VAF (Belgium), and Krakow Festival Office – KBF (Poland), in partnership with the Lithuanian Film Centre, the Norwegian Film Institute, Région Bretagne (France), as well as as Screen Scotland (UK) and Focal (Switzerland).
